IS the Angel of the Lord a title for Christ or rather a simple title referring to any angelic host?

True paul, I do acknowledge and believe Christ is Yaweh incarnate, or God and not a simple angel.

Christ is not “Angel of the Lord”. Christ IS the Lord, and all angels worship Him!

It depends on context, it is referred to as a theophany.

“THE” Angel (note the capitol A in Angel and the word “The” in front of it) of the LORD is referring to Jesus.
However, Jesus is NOT the archangel, Michael, like the JW’s believe. Michael is “an” archangel, not “THE Angel of the Lord.”

“Angel of the Lord” is a title bestowed on a messenger of God. It may be an ‘angel’ in the usual use of the term, or it may be a prophet, or it may be Jesus himself.

We get “angel” from the Hebrew “malak” through the Greek “aggelos”. They mean “messenger”. The notion of an angel with wings fluttering around in the air is a product of the Middle Ages.

It causes confusion in modern times, especially the use of “archangel”. An archangel is a chief messenger. Jesus is ‘the’ chief messenger to Christians but is not one of the archangels of the old testament. Some have confused Jesus with the archangel Michael as a result.
